Dating to the mid 18th century and in sublime condition and scarce antique girandole style pendant consisting of a gorgeously plump pear below a ribboned clip all set with entirely hand cut White Topaz likely from the Brazilian ‘Minas Novas’ mines which Portugal had control over at the time. All custom cut by hand to fit the Silver design were then set over foil to accentuate their immense glitter. Likely once part of a much larger set of jewels, this piece would have been quite splendid and coveted in her day and worn by only the most prestigious and wealthy; (see the portrait of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenberg-Strelitz).
Suited to a more modest (but still immensely glittery) ensemble, we feel she would make the most special wedding or birthday gift. Measures an inch and a half lengthways and slips onto a ribbon or chain.
